Tuesday Morning - Silk Farm

Tom had to work Tuesday so we were mostly our own. On his recommendation, we went to Silk Farm an Audubon Area for more hiking. But first we had to move everything back into the car...and this wasn't everything.

Being an Audubon Area they had captive birds, including this stately bald eagle.

Chris' back was hurting, so I got Matt for the day.

Katelyn inspects a big bird feather we found near the start.

She is not so impressed with the view of Turkey Hill Pond.

But she likes the walking stick she found on Mt. Kearsarge.

We found a fun fungus.

And a chipmunk...look closely, he's there.

It ended up being longer than we had expected, even if it was fairly flat. Katelyn got tired and whined 2/3 of the way. Matt just got tired.

Having his warm head nuzzled into my neck was one of my favorite parts of the trip. He was content enough to doze off and it was an extended backward cuddle for me. His quiet breathing broken only by Katelyn's whining and his occasional suck-suck-suck on his paci as he soothed himself. It doesn't seem all that wonderful, but I thought it was.
